Book: Fallen Angels
Author: Walter Dean Myers
Genre: War
Book Review by: B.R.

1968; Richie Perry, a kid who just finished high school and couldn’t afford collage had nowhere else to go, so he willingly enlists in the army to fight in Vietnam. There he meets’ platoon, Alpha Company, and makes friends with most of them (Peewee, Johnson, Lobel, and a few others…) but they spend most of their time on base. As they enter the fight against the Viet Cong (VC) in skirmishes every now and then, a lot of lives are lost, mistakes are made, and tension in the platoon gets rough. Now Perry is on the brink of losing his humanity and can only hope to get out of Nam alive.
This book is a very good selection for anyone, especially readers into war novels, because it’s just about war but the struggles and humanity of a soldier. The main character, Perry, is a character most people can relate to or put themselves in his position; as just an average guy, divorced parents, not too close to his mother, cares for his little brother, and not too sure about his future. Walter Dean Myers wrote Fallen Angels as a dedication to his brother Thomas Wayne “Sonny” Myers who tragically lost his life in Vietnam on May 7, 1968. I would recommend this book to anyone into war novels, Walter Dean Myers fans, or anyone because it’s a real down to earth book, very emotional, and makes you feel like you’re there in Nam. My personal review of this book: 4/5 stars.

 ALL-IN   By Pete Hautman
Genre: Action Adventure/ Drama/ Fiction
Book Review by T.L.

All-in is about a kid named Denn he is 17 year old; lives in Law Vegas as a professional poker player. He's just lost all but his last hundred bucks in a game where the dealer, cute redhead Cattie, cheated the deal so that he lost. We Denn's history; he won a restaurant in a poker game in his hometown, but sold it when it tanked due to his bad management. Then he moves to Vegas. He’s trying to win big, but he's gotten distracted by the cute redhead.

But now Denn's luck has run out and he's just about broke. "You know how they say you can't climb out of a hole till you hit bottom? This quotation is stating that if you have no bottom to your hole then you can climb out. The hole is as deep (big) as the problems you have made; until you fix them then you hit the bottom and you can climb out to freedom.

Title: Boot Camp
Genre: Young Adult Drama
By I.K.

The book that I am reading called Boot Camp is about a boy that gets sent to boot camp after being disrespectful to his parents. The staff picks him up at night, to make him think that he was getting kidnaped. He gets scared, wondering why he was picked up by these people.
The main charter’s name is Harry he is was very bad to his parents and at night they called the boot came officers, to come get him. Maybe you could loosen the handcuffs? I asked. Sorry blue blood.
When he got there, He meets some people that were going to watch over him and tell him when to talk and when not to talk. The rules are at boot camp are that you can’t stand, eat, or talk without permission.
The author Todd Strasser published a lot of good books like the book Give a Boy a Gun. It was a sad and an Exciting book to read. If you are someone that likes those types of books, I advise you to read any of his books.
